How the Program Works
The Coaching Network is offered several times a year so that mentorship can always fit your schedule.
Join the Community: Sign up as a mentor or mentee to get started. With multiple program dates offered throughout the year, there is always an opportunity to jump in.
Easy Onboarding: To ensure a great experience, everyone completes a quick, self-paced online training session before getting started.
Personalized Matching: Pairs are thoughtfully matched based on coaching experience, gender preferences, and specific career goals.
Make a Plan: Set clear goals with your mentor and lock in a regular schedule to connect.
Track Your Progress: Share feedback, hit your goals, and document your growth directly within the program.
Break the Ice: Once matched, you can message your mentor/mentee immediately to introduce yourself and start chatting.
Eligibility and Requirements
Qualifications: Tennis Coaching
MENTOR
Age: 18+
USTA Coaching Account: Hold a Rally, Pro, or Pro Plus package and be Safe Play Approved
Experience: Minimum 7 years of active tennis coaching.
Education: USTA Coaching education courses (Professional level+ preferred) or equivalent certification.
Values: Dedication to fostering an inclusive tennis coaching community
Requirements: Register by completing the program questionnaire, and watch the training video.

MENTEE
Age: 18+

We recommend at least one 30- to 45-minute virtual session. Many tennis coaching mentorship pairs connect more frequently, depending on the goals you establish.
The initial tennis coaching mentorship commitment varies on the session you register for. See the schedule for options.
The tennis coaching mentorship program is included as part of your USTA Coaching benefits at no additional cost.

Absolutely! Many tennis coaches participate in both roles — seeking guidance in areas like coaching business development while offering expertise in player development or tournament coaching.
USTA Coaching tennis mentors provide guidance on: USTA certification advancement, youth tennis program development, high performance player training, coaching business growth, lesson planning, parent communication, tournament preparation, adaptive tennis coaching and professional development strategies and so much more.
Mentees should be USTA Coaching participants and have a Rally, Pro or Pro Plus package but do not have to have a professional certification. Mentors should hold USTA Coaching certifications (Professional or higher preferred) or an industry equivalent with significant coaching experience.
The USTA Coaching Network is a premier mentorship program that utilizes advanced matching technology and best-practice guidelines to connect coaches with seasoned professionals, fostering career growth both on and off the court.
Both Mentors and Mentees must be 18+, Safe Play Approved, hold a Rally package or above, be in good standing, and complete a 1-hour training session.
